Summer Fun is Here!

Longer summer days and warmer weather give kids the freedom to finally have fun during their favorite time of year! Your summer plans may look a little different this year but whether you’re in the local city park or hiking along the beach, summer fun is always an option when little imaginations run wild. Make sure you have enough sunscreen!

Here are some ideas to make sure whatever your summer plans are, they are sure to be fun!

  • Designate one night a week for outdoor movie night! Get your neighbors together and BYOC (bring your own chair) for a classic movie viewing. Consider some summer favorites:  The Sandlot,  Finding Nemo,  Lilo & Stitch,  Race for your Life, or Charlie Brown. Make it a dress up theme night! How about a mommy + me dress up contest with these Love Bubby ideas?
  • Kids can enjoy Summer Fridays too. Your community may have a local history walking guide or trail maps that take you through historical spots. Find information on your local library website or city guides. (Even if you don’t live in NYC, here are some ideas that we’re sure can be found in your community.)
  • Summer camps may be limited this year, but create your own camp adventure in your backyard or a local campground. Incorporate scavenger hunts, freeze tag and I spy … they’ll have just as much fun with the family!
  • Incorporate activities with creativity. Take a walk on the beach, park or lake to collect rocks or shells to bring home and create art projects. Go on a bug scavenger hunt and give them all new names (Peter is a popular beetle name, FYI!) Keep the sun out of their curious eyes with our Little Feminist Baseball Hat.
  • Water is an essential summer accessory. Even if you don’t have a lot of outdoor space, let them sit around in their bathing suits, get a small kids pool or put beach toys in the bathtub.

Summer is definitely not cancelled and we’re here to remind you that you can make a summer fun statement anywhere your imagination takes you!

Great ideas! We love collecting rocks and other discarded bits of nature, and I keep them in a box and I can’t tell you how many hours of fun have been had painting rocks. It’s oddly satisfying.
